Ingredients
  

For the churro dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar Plus 1/4 cup for coating
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • spray Cooking spray

For the coating

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and 1/4 cup sugar over medium heat. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in flour, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer to a piping bag.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Pipe small bites of dough onto parchment paper.
  • Lightly spray the dough bites with cooking spray.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Coating

  • In a shallow bowl, mix together 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  • Toss the warm churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture before serving.

Notes

Serve warm for the best experience. They are delicious on their own or paired with a dipping sauce, such as chocolate sauce or caramel. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
