  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Be careful when adding to the batter.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract, and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Slice the cake into generous portions and place each slice on a plate.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
  • For a romantic touch, sprinkle some fresh strawberries or raspberries on top.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for even texture. Do not skip greasing and flouring the pans. If cake layers dome, level them off with a knife after cooling. Experiment with different frostings for a unique flavor.
