Ingredients
  

For the Base

  • 1 pound ground beef Can be replaced with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup rice Brown rice can be used for a healthier twist.
  • 2 cups water Adjust based on rice package instructions.

For the Sauce

  • 1 packet taco seasoning Homemade seasoning can also be used for a fresh taste.

To Serve

  • 1 cup shredded cheese Reduced-fat or dairy-free cheese can be used.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • Optional toppings: chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, jalapeƱos

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning along with a little water as instructed on the seasoning package. Mix well.

Assembly

  • Layer the cooked rice in a bowl first, then top it with the seasoned beef mixture.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, followed by a dollop of sour cream and your choice of salsa.
  • Add optional toppings like chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, or jalapeƱos before serving warm.

Notes

Make sure to cook the beef thoroughly but not overcook it. Prepare toppings ahead for easy assembly. Adjust water in the rice based on package directions.
