  • 6-8 medium Sweet Potatoes If sweet potatoes are unavailable, yams can be used as a substitute.
  • 8 TBSP Unsalted Butter Can be substituted with coconut oil or plant-based butter for a healthier option.
  • 2 TSP Ground Cinnamon Adjust to taste preference.
  • 1.5 Cup Granulated Sugar Consider using a sugar substitute to lower sugar intake.
  • 1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar Can be modified or reduced.
  • 1 TBSP Pure Vanilla Extract For enhanced flavor.
  • 2 TSP Orange Juice
  • 1-2 TSP Orange Zest Zest from half an orange also included.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel and boil the sweet potatoes until tender, approximately 20-25 minutes.

Mash the Potatoes

  • Drain the sweet potatoes and place them in a large bowl.
  • Add the unsalted butter, ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest.
  • Mix until well combined, ensuring a smooth texture.

Assemble the Casserole

  • Spread the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish.

Bake

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and the top is slightly caramelized.

Serve

  • Serve warm as a comforting side or dessert.

Notes

Drizzle honey over the top before serving for added sweetness. Garnish with freshly whipped cream. Using organic ingredients can enhance flavor and nutrition. A food processor can create perfectly smooth mashed sweet potatoes.
