Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda For boiling the pretzel bites.
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Topping

  • Flaky sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough discard, flour, salt, sugar, and warm water. Knead until a soft dough forms.
  • Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into bite-sized pretzel shapes.

Boiling and Baking

  • In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top of the pretzel bites.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These pretzel bites can be served with a variety of dips, such as mustard, cheese sauce, or chocolate. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze them for up to 2 months.
