  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Use fresh for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup sour cream For creamy flavor.
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Divided into 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup.
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese For a melty texture.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch For thickening.
  • 1 tsp dried oregano For a hint of herb flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For added flavor.
  • Salt and black pepper To taste.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, cornstarch, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.

Cooking

  • Place one slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast.
  • Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over each chicken breast and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan on top.
  • Bake for about 60 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Allow the dish to stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This dish pairs well with a fresh salad, steamed vegetables, or served over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
