  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 pieces eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mustard Any type of mustard can be used.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or cooking spray For greasing the baking sheet.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a shallow dish, mix the crushed pretzels and season with salt and pepper.
  • Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and the pretzel mixture.
  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the eggs, then coat with the pretzel mixture.
  • Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet greased with olive oil or cooking spray.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is golden brown.

Making the Sauce

  • Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the mustard, heavy cream, and cheddar cheese over medium heat until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Serving

  • Serve the pretzel chicken drizzled with the creamy mustard-cheddar sauce.

Notes

Best served hot. Pairs well with side items like steamed vegetables, a fresh salad, or mashed potatoes. Feel free to add extra pretzel crumbs for garnish.
