Ingredients

For the Base

  • 4 pieces chicken legs Can substitute with chicken thighs or drumsticks.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can use vegetable or avocado oil.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to make the spice rub.
  • Rub the spice blend evenly over the chicken legs, ensuring all surfaces are covered.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Arrange the chicken legs on the baking sheet and brush generously with barbecue sauce.

Cooking

  • Bake the chicken for 35-40 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
  • If the skin isn’t as crispy as desired, broil for the last few minutes of cooking.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the spice rub for a few hours or overnight. Allow chicken to rest for a few minutes after baking for juiciness.
