Ingredients

For the Base

  • 1 lb ground beef May substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 10 oz linguine Any long pasta works well; try spaghetti or rice noodles if preferred.

For the Sauce

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar Coconut sugar or honey can be used as a natural sweetener.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth Use low-sodium for a healthier option.
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier twist.
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional) For a spicy kick.

To Serve

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish For fresh touch.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil a pot of water and cook the linguine according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet with the browned beef, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Mix well until combined.
  • In a small bowl, combine cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this mixture to the skillet, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked linguine to the skillet. Toss the noodles thoroughly in the sauce until they are well coated.
  • Garnish the dish with sliced green onions for a fresh touch. Serve the Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, sauté the garlic until lightly golden before adding the sauce. Toss in some vegetables when adding the noodles for added color and nutrition.
