Ingredients

  • 2 pieces chicken breasts Boneless and skinless
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the gyros

  • 4 pieces pita bread
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  • Coat the chicken breasts in the marinade and let them sit for 15-30 minutes.

Cooking

  • Grill or pan-cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Warm the pita bread on the grill or in a dry skillet.

Assembly

  • Assemble the gyros by placing sliced chicken in the pita, topping it with tzatziki sauce, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Allow the chicken to marinate longer for better flavor. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that chicken is fully cooked (should reach 165°F). Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preference, adding ingredients like lettuce or feta cheese.
