  • 1 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese (or Monterey Jack)
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Jalapenos (fresh or pickled) You can adjust the heat level by using more or fewer jalapenos.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry (thawed)
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash) Brush on the twists for a golden finish.
  • as needed Dipping Sauces (ranch, sriracha mayo, or honey mustard) Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into strips about 2 inches wide.
  • Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture at one end of each strip.
  • Roll the pastry over to form twists, sealing the edges well.
  • Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush each twist with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them back in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes or until heated through and crispy again. Consider adding cooked bacon bits or diced bell peppers to the cheese mixture for a variation.
