For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup for vegan option) For a vegan option, use maple syrup or agave syrup instead.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Increase for stronger flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Low-sodium soy sauce is a healthier choice if you're watching your salt intake.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Can be replaced with sesame oil to add a nutty flavor.

To Serve

  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together the honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, soy sauce, and olive oil. Blend until well combined.
  • In another bowl, toss the cubed tofu with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until the tofu is evenly coated.
  • Pour the sauce over the coated tofu and mix gently until the tofu is well covered.

Baking

  • Arrange the tofu on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is crispy and golden.

Serving

Notes

Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, ensuring it will crisp up nicely during baking. Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey/maple syrup based on your preference.
