Batter Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas Use overripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter Can substitute with melted coconut oil or applesauce for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Helps the bread rise.
  • Pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Don't overmix after adding flour.

Cinnamon Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  • Mix in the baking soda and salt. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Stir in the flour until just incorporated.
  • In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and brown sugar.

Baking

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter.
  • Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the remaining cinnamon mixture. Swirl with a knife.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool before slicing. Enjoy your homemade banana bread!

Notes

This banana bread is delicious served warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with butter or honey.
