Frosting Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tbsp milk to adjust consistency

Instructions

Preparation of Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix until you form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth.

Preparation of Filling

  • In a separate bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and mini chocolate chips (if using).

Rolling and Assembling

  • Roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
  • Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  • Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

Baking the Rolls

  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover and let them rise for about 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Once the rolls have risen, bake them for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Making the Frosting

  • In a bowl, blend cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk to achieve your desired consistency.

Frosting and Serving

  • After the rolls have cooled slightly, spread the frosting generously over the top.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Enjoy these rolls fresh out of the oven. They are best served warm and can be paired with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee. You can also sprinkle some extra chocolate chips or a dusting of powdered sugar on top for added flair.
