  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) Green beans, drained Fresh green beans can be used for crunchier texture.
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Cream of mushroom soup Can be substituted with cream of chicken soup.
  • 1 cup Milk Low-fat milk can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions Reserve half for topping.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Consider adding garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and half of the French fried onions. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the mixture into a baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, top with the remaining French fried onions, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

To store leftovers, let the casserole cool to room temperature, place in an airtight container, and refrigerate for 3-4 days. It can also be frozen for 2-3 months. For variations, try adding cooked bacon bits or sharp cheddar cheese.
