Ingredients

For the Base

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, pureed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chopped strawberries, being careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Making the Glaze

  • While the bread is cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar, milk, and pureed strawberries in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.

Notes

Check doneness early at the 50-minute mark. Allow the bread to cool completely before glazing for the best results. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
