Ingredients

For the Base

  • 2 inches fresh ginger root Fresh ginger is best for robust flavor; can substitute with ground ginger (1 tsp).
  • 1/2 cup water Can substitute with coconut water for a flavor twist.

For the Flavor Boost

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh squeezed preferred but bottled works too.
  • 1 tablespoon honey Optional; for a vegan alternative, use maple syrup or agave nectar.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel and chop the ginger root into small pieces.
  • Place the chopped ginger pieces in a blender with 1/2 cup of water and blend until smooth.
  • Strain the blended ginger mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
  • Add the lemon juice and honey (if using) to the ginger juice and stir well.
  • Pour the concentrated ginger juice into shot glasses and serve immediately, preferably chilled.

Notes

Chill before serving for enhanced freshness. Adjust sweetness with honey or add more lemon juice based on your taste preference. Ginger shots should be consumed within 2-3 days when refrigerated.
