  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Add extra for a more intense chocolate flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Can skip if you prefer.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional, for added chocolaty goodness.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Add the red food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Serve these brownies warm or at room temperature. Enjoy plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
