  • 1 cup white rice Can substitute with brown rice, adjusting cooking time.
  • 2 cups French onion sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (like Swiss or mozzarella) Can also use cheddar or gouda.
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth Use low sodium for a healthier option.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned; drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the rice, French onion sauce, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2 months. Cool completely before freezing.
