  • 8 oz pasta of choice
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

Cooking the Pasta

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  • In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the boiling water.
  • Drain the pasta and broccoli, reserving some pasta water.

Sautéing

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
  • Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet, tossing to combine.
  • If needed, add reserved pasta water to create a desired sauce consistency.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve warm, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Make sure to not overcook the broccoli; it should be tender yet still bright green. For a bit of spice, add red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic. You can use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta for a healthier version.
