For the Sauce

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Choose sugar-free for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth Substitute with vegetable broth for a meat-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Can be replaced with any neutral oil.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

To Serve

Preparation

  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your crockpot, ensuring they are evenly spaced.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a bowl, combine BBQ sauce, chicken broth, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended.

Combine and Cook

  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Shred and Serve

  • Remove the chicken from the crockpot and shred it using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and mix well with the remaining sauce.
  • Serve the chicken with your choice of side dishes or in sandwiches.

Notes

This dish is versatile for meal prep and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. It can also be frozen for optimal taste and texture for up to 3 months.
