Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz cranberries (fresh or frozen) Use fresh cranberries for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tbs orange zest About 1 whole orange.
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, add cranberries, water, orange juice, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook over medium heat until the cranberries pop and the mixture thickens, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add in the orange zest, mixing well.
  • Once cooled, pour into an airtight container and place in the refrigerator to chill.

Notes

Cranberry sauce is best served chilled. Use fresh cranberries for a better flavor. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar. Adding a splash of vanilla or a pinch of cloves can enhance the flavor. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or frozen for up to six months.
