  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened to mix easily.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips You can experiment with different types of chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months and let them thaw at room temperature before enjoying. To achieve chewier cookies, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
