  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for best texture.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For gluten-free, use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture while mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve the cookies warm with a glass of milk. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay soft for about a week. Freeze in a freezer-safe bag for longer storage.
