Ingredients
  

For the cookies

  • 1 cup brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup For a stronger flavor, add more to glaze.
  • 1 large egg At room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the maple glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons maple syrup

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the brown sugar and butter until fluffy.
  • Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Maple Glaze

  • For the maple glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
  • Once the cookies have cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
  • Allow the glaze to set before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.
