For the Marinade Base

  • 1/2 cup bourbon Consider using apple juice or a non-alcoholic whiskey for a substitute.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce For gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Use a high-quality olive oil for better flavor infusion.

For Flavor Enhancement

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adjust garlic depending on desired flavor strength.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Whisk together the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, onion powder, and salt in a medium bowl until well blended.
  • Place your steak in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring it is well-coated.
  • Seal the bag or cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for at least one hour, preferably overnight.

Cooking

  • Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  • Grill or pan-sear the steak to your desired doneness, using a meat thermometer (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  • Allow the steak to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Marinade for longer for a more intense flavor. Use fresh herbs or spice variations to enhance flavor. Serve with chimichurri for contrast.
