Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar, mixing until light and fluffy.
  • Incorporate the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully blended before adding the next, and then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt using a whisk.
  • Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the buttery mixture, stirring just until everything is blended together.
  • Gently incorporate 1 cup of chocolate chips into the brownie batter.

Cookie Layer

  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs, one by one, ensuring each is well combined before adding the next.
  • Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until the dough is formed, then fold in the remaining chocolate chips.

Layering and Baking

  • Evenly distribute the brownie batter in the prepared baking pan, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  • Spoon dollops of the cookie dough over the brownie layer, spreading gently to cover as much of the brownie layer as possible.
