For the Base

  • 8 pieces pre-packaged Rice Krispie treats (unwrapped)
  • 4 pieces paper straws (cut in half)

For the Coatings

  • 5 oz red candy melts
  • 5 oz blue candy melts
  • 2 oz white candy melts

To Serve

  • red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Melt the white candy melts in the microwave according to the package instructions until smooth.
  • Dip each half of the paper straws into the melted white candy and stick them into the smaller end of each unwrapped rice krispie treat, placing them on parchment paper to dry.
  • Melt the red candy melts in the microwave per the package instructions until smooth.
  • Holding onto the straw, dip each rice krispie treat into the melted red candy, ensuring half of the treat is coated, then place on parchment paper to dry.
  • Melt the blue candy melts in the microwave until melted and smooth.
  • Dip each rice krispie treat into the blue candy, covering half of the treat. Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles before the candy hardens.
  • Re-warm the previously melted white candy melts, fill a ziplock bag with it, trim one corner, and drizzle over the red and blue candy-coated treats. Allow to set.

Notes

Ensure each layer of candy is fully dried before adding the next for clean separation of colors. Store decorated treats in a single layer to prevent them from sticking together.
