  • 1 large Watermelon Aim for a firm watermelon for stability during cutting.

For the Stripes

  • 2 medium Bananas Use ripe bananas for sweetness.
  • 1 pint Strawberries Fresh strawberries can be swapped for raspberries.

For the Stars

  • 1 cup Blueberries Frozen blueberries may be used but will not maintain the same texture.

To Serve

  • 1 cup Pineapple (optional) Adds an additional tropical flavor.
  • 1 cup Grapes (optional) For additional decoration.

Preparation

  • Start by cutting the watermelon into a large rectangle to serve as the base of the American flag.
  • Slice the bananas into even slices and arrange them neatly on the watermelon to form the white stripes.
  • Halve the strawberries and place the red halves over the banana slices to form red stripes.
  • In the top left corner, fill a small area with blueberries to represent the stars of the flag.
  • Optionally, add other fruits like pineapple and grapes around the platter for decoration.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy your festive fruit platter!

Notes

For best results, arrange fruits just before serving to avoid browning, especially for bananas. Keep the platter refrigerated until ready to serve.
